Art Centre Heating Control

The aim of this project was to upgrade the heating controls at the Arts Centre. The heating and ventilation system was all commercial equipment and the controls varied from existing BMS equipment from the late nineties to basic time clocks. The plant equipment is situated over five major plant rooms with smaller outbuildings having their own gas boilers. We used Trend BMS equipment and built panels where required to control the plant. Thermostats were placed throughout the Centre and software written to give the Centre a user interface for their building. They can now set occupancy times for the rooms and set-points to suit the room use. The BMS will bring the heating on as late as possible in order to reach the set-point at the occupancy time. It will turn it off as soon as possible whilst making sure the temperature doesn’t drop below the set-point before the room is to be vacated. In the live music venue a separate mobile touchscreen was used that allows the engineers to adjust settings on the fly during a gig.
